Hmmm. . .

As anyone working in elementary education knows, March 2nd was Dr. Suess' birthday. At our school, each teacher celebrates the day at their discretion. In the library, we spend the week reading and discussing Dr. Suess' books. I was ready for a break from the normal fare: Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish (one of my personal favorites), and Green Eggs and Ham, so I picked up an unfamiliar title. . . The Butter Battle Book. It tells the story of two communities: the Yooks and the Zooks. They are battling over which side of the bread to spread butter on and with each page the battle escalates. At first, it seems ridiculous, and then it seems to hit awfully close to home. Have you read it? I read it to both second and third grade today - interesting to see their reactions. Would be curious to know yours. . .
